In the United States we can find Grey Wolves, Red wolves, Arctic Wolves, and Mexican Wolves. They range in color
from pure black to white. They have been seen in shades of red, tan, silver, and brown. They are not very big animals. The average
male weighs 95 pounds, while females weigh about 85 pounds.
Hunting
Wolves can run up to 40 miles an hour for short distances. With their long legs they can easily follow prey at a trot for long hours.
wolves use their ears and nose to aide them in the search of prey. By turning their ears from side to side they can tell what
direction the noise is coming from. They can hear sounds from a mile away. But their nose is their real asset. They can
smell prey from as much as a mile and a half away.
