Current Research

My current research as a postdoc at Emília Martins' lab, Indiana University focuses on studies on behavioral
adaptations in native zebrafish populations and towards understanding the finer links between ecology and
these behavioral divergences. A combination of ecological information from zebrafish populations from a wide
geographical range and laboratory studies on select behavioral traits (shoaling, boldness, aggression) are
used to answer a variety of questions:

thumbtack Are there significant variations in behavior among natural zebrafish populations from different ecological
conditions (such as flow regimes, vegetation)?

thumbtack What is the extent of plasticity in the expression of behavioral traits- are they context dependent?

thumbtack What are the physiological and genetic mechanisms behind these behavioral expressions?
