When and Where to Take the Exam

Hybrid sections (1474, 1738): The exam is given in the classroom at the regular lab meeting time (2:00 or 5:30) on Wednesday, December 12.

Online section (32015): The exam is given in the IU East Testing Center Tuesday through Thursday, December 11–13. For the Testing Center hours and sign-up instructions, see Oncourse Forums / General Discussion / Exam Schedule for the Online Section.

The exam time will be 75 minutes.

Testing Center

(For the online section)

  1. Location: Springwood Hall (RW) 202.
  2. Students must sign up in advance for a test time. To be sure you get a seat, I recommend signing up immmediately. The Testing Center says you should sign up at least 24 hours in advance of the test time.
  3. Sign up by calling Bob Lang, 765-973-8249, or Vicki Colley, 765-973-8561.
  4. You must bring your IU student ID, driver's license, or other state ID, when you come to take the exam.

Preparing for the Exam

The exam will count for 27 points, making it 16% (as described in the course syllabus) of the 168 points for the course grade. It will cover the Unix Tutorial, through parts 1 and 2; the Sifflet Tutorial; and the textbook, chapters 1–6 and 9–12. Note that chapter 13 is not covered, although it is on the syllabus.

These are the sections of the exam:

15% Terms (from all chapters, some overlap with previous topics)

As on the midterm, there will be a mixture of question types, including matching, multiple choice, short answer, code interpretation (show the process or result of executing some code), and writing Python code or Unix commands.
