Assistant Professor

Department of Spanish and Portuguese
Indiana University

I have always been fascinated with the wonderful problems that the study of languages poses, and the possibility to use language as a window to the human cognition. Although my main areas of research are Syntax and Language Acquisition, I have a strong interest in a number of related areas, including Morphology, Phonetics, Philosophy of Language, Cognitive Science, and the Evolution of Language.

I'm deeply committed to the study of Spanish, my native language, especially to the varieties less represented in the literature (South American varieties, and Spanish in contact with other languages). I'm also interested in the study of non-Spanish languages of Latin America, in particular Aymara.
