Instructions for Cross-eyed Viewing
The average person can learn to view in stereo in about half an hour. Some people can do it immediately. Here, we consider stereo pairs presented using the cross-eye method. Another name for this method is convergent viewing.
With this method the picture on the left is viewed with the right eye while the picture on the right is viewed with the left eye. The figure illustrates this. Start with the two pictures in front of you at a comfortable viewing distance. Then cross your eyes by holding your finger a few inches (about 8) in front of your nose and converging your eyes on your fingertip. This is shown in the figure. While concentrating mainly on your fingertip, move it so as to superimpose the two pictures. You may see four images of the two pictures in which case you superimpose the middle two. If you do not see the stereo, practice superimposing the two images. The stero view should appear after about a half hour of effort.
Now, using these instructions, go to the stereo trainer and learn to view cross-eye stereo pairs.
