Systems including the Intel Paragon, SGI Origin 2000, IBM RS6000/SP, Sun E10000, Cray XT5m, IBM iDataplex and JS21, HS21, QS20, QS22 blades, as well as various one off SMP machines & comodity Beowulf clusters. Awarded Indiana University Staff Merit Award for 2003.

Plan, manage, configure, and see to the efficient and effective operation of the Astronomy Department's and Astrophysics Group's computing resources. Acted as a technical resource engaged in the research and educational endeavors of these groups. Designed, developed, built & implemented data acquisition systems at both the hardware and software levels; e.g. robotic telescopes and particle physics detectors. Overall responsibility for daily systems management of the Department's & Group's resources.

Research endeavors included primary software architect for the RoboScope & SpectraBot robotic telescope systems. Investigation of time varying astronomical sources such as quasar, BL Lac objects and cataclysmic variable systems. Research collaborations with members of the Astronomy Department has continued since my leaving this position.
Software Support Technician : May 1983 - November 1986
I.U. Cyclotron Facility, Indiana University, Bloomington, IN 47405

Primarily a systems programmer/administrator on DEC VAX/VMS 750 & 8600 systems. Also worked with DEC PDP/LSI-11, Xerox, Harris computers used as control and data acquisition systems. Primary user consultant for IUCF researchers, staff, students, and visiting scientists.

Processing, reproduction, and sensitometric control of still (Black-&-White, colour), motion picture (high speed, ballistic, B&W, colour), and industrial X-ray (125KeV-4MeV) photoprocesses. Worked with special purpose high speed video data acquisition systems; 3/4" Betamax video cameras & editors. JPG's missions included test and evaluation as well as research and development of ARMY field artillery systems.


B-52G Defensive Aerial Gunner : January 1978 - May 1980
524th Bombardment Sqdn (Heavy), U.S. Air Force, Staff Sergeant, Wurtsmith AFB, MI 48753

Aircrewmember (tailgunner) aboard Strategic Air Command B-52G aircraft whose mission was to function as the strategic bomber component of the United States nuclear deterrence infrastructure. Primary aircrew tasks involved knowledge of Soviet air defenses and tactics for penetrating hostile airspace; operation of active & passive sensor systems; electronic countermeasures. Additional duties included squadron NCO in Charge of Publications: managed two individuals responsible for distribution of B52G Technical Orders (TO); as well as personally insuring the currency of base command staff B52G TOs.

Processing, reproduction, and sensitometric control of aerial photographic imagery from a variety of remote sensors, e.g. optical, infrared (IR), and side-looking airborne radar (SLAR). Print Section Supervisor; managed approximately 10 people on two shifts.
